In suspension, the potential difference between the oscilloscope and other equipment or the ground can cause electric shock or damage to the oscilloscope, probe or other equipment.

To avoid the impact of ground wires on the testing of high frequency signals, use the probe's dedicated ground attachment or the standard test attachment that comes with a typical universal voltage probe.

When measuring pulse signals and high frequency signals with short build up time, the grounding lead of the probe is close to the position of the measured point. If the ground conductor is too long, waveform distortion such as ringing or overshoot may occur.

High voltage test, to use a special high voltage probe, identify the positive and negative electrodes, confirm the connection is correct and start the measurement.
