It may be that the iPad has turned off the lock feature, but you can open the Apple ipad 4 tablet desktop and tap to go to Settings.
In the Settings screen of Apple ipad tablet, tap to go to Display and brightness.
After entering, you can see that the lock\/unlock is disabled. Click the Enable lock\/Unlock button.
Finally, close the cover of the iPad, and the iPad will automatically lock the screen.
