About IO chips
The Super I\/O chip is also called the I\/O chip. There are I\/O control circuits on the motherboards above 486 grades. Because there must be resource mismatch between high-speed devices such as South Bridge and a large number of low-speed devices such as serial, parallel interfaces, floppy disk drives and keyboards and mice, they need to be converted and managed. The Super I\/O chip completes this function.

Chipsets are the core components of the motherboard, and are usually divided into north bridge chips and South bridge chips according to their placement on the motherboard.

The Southbridge chip is mainly used for low-speed external bus devices, and is responsible for managing interrupts and DMA channels to make external devices work more smoothly. It provides support for KBC(Keyboard Controller), RTC(Real-time Clock Controller), USB(Universal Serial Bus), Ultra DMA EIDE data transfer mode and ACPI(Advanced Energy Management). The south bridge is generally located on the motherboard at a distance from the CPU and at an average distance from each low-speed external interface.

Northbridge chips generally work according to the type and frequency of the CPU, as well as the type and maximum capacity of the memory, and provide high-speed external bus device interfaces such as PCI\/AGP. The North bridge is usually located near the CPU slot on the motherboard, and because the heat output of such chips is generally higher, heat sinks are generally installed on this chip.
