As one of the world's leading producers of ultra-pure silicon, Setron has a strong presence, including the production of polished, epitaxial and specialized wafers with perfect surfaces for a wide range of applications. Products are widely used in extremely complex semiconductor components as well as highly integrated microprocessors and memory components for information processing, computer chips and cutting-edge power semiconductors are also key areas of deployment. Siltronic AG is the world's fourth largest semiconductor silicon fab, and there were media reports in mid-2018 that Unigroup planned to spend a huge amount of money to acquire Siltronic AG.
