How to choose tungsten needle?

Argon arc welding technology is the fastest developing and most widely used welding technology at home and abroad. In particular, manual argon tungsten arc welding has become an indispensable means in the welding of various metal structures. During welding, an arc is generated between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece, and the filler metal is sent from one side. Under the action of the arc heat, the filler metal and the workpiece are fused together to form a weld. In order to prevent the melting and burning of the electrode, the welding current can not be too large, therefore, argon tungsten arc welding is usually suitable for welding thin plates below 4mm, such as pipe butt, pipe and tube plate connection.

Tungsten needle selection basis :1, welding base material, 2, welding base material thickness. Pure tungsten (green head) : suitable for AC welding, arc stability, aluminum, aluminum magnesium alloy. Cerium tungsten (gray head) : suitable for DC welding, easy arc, steel, stainless steel, nickel base, titanium and other metals. Lanthanum tungsten (yellow head) : suitable for DC welding, easy to arc, needle tip is not easy to wear. Rare earth tungsten (light blue) : All metals. Thorium tungsten (red head) : suitable for DC welding, high current, copper, iron. Zirconium tungsten (dark gray) : suitable for AC welding, aluminum, aluminum magnesium alloy. Thin plate as far as possible to choose small tungsten needle, thick plate thick tungsten needle. When welding, the small current tungsten needle shape is ground into a sharp shape, and the large current is ground into a circular arc.
