The harmful substances of artificial wood panels come from the adhesives used in the production process of the panels. The commonly used adhesives in China are phenolic resin and urea-formaldehyde resin.

Artificial flooring mainly detects the content of formaldehyde.

Under normal circumstances, the concentration of free formaldehyde in urea-formaldehyde resin is about 3%, and there is certain free formaldehyde in phenolic resin. Formaldehyde is a colorless and easily soluble irritating gas. Particleboard, density board, plywood and other artificial panels, adhesives and wallpaper are the primary sources of formaldehyde in the air, and the release period is as long as 3 to 15 years.

Benzene is a colorless, aromatic gas. Glues, paints, coatings and adhesives are the primary sources of benzene in the air.

TVOC: Total volatile organic compounds. TVOC includes benzene, toluene, butyl acetate, ethylbenzene, p-(m-) xylene, styrene, o-xylene, undecane, etc. Interior construction and decoration materials are the primary sources of TVOC in the air.
