What's the difference between the 820 and 990 chips?

1, Kirin 820 is Huawei's current mid-range processor, using TSMC 7nm process manufacturing, integrated Kirin 990 5G flagship 5G baseband module, support 2G\/3G\/4G\/5G multi-standard, especially 5G support SA\/NSA dual-mode. The Kirin 820 integrates eight CPU cores, including a high-performance large core A76 2.36GHz, three energy-efficient mid-core A76 2.22GHz, and four energy-efficient small core A55 1.84GHz, while integrating six core Mali-G57 Gpus. It also supports GPU Turbo and Kirin Gaming 2.0 technologies. At the same time, there is also a self-developed architecture NPU unit, a single large core. Equipped with Kirin ISP 5.0 image processing unit, it supports BM3D SLR level image noise reduction and video dual-domain noise reduction.

2. Kirin 990 is the most flagship processor of Huawei Kirin series at present, which is manufactured by 7nm process. Compared with the previous generation Hisilicon Kirin 980 improved by about 10%. The Kirin 990 processor has a built-in Balon 5000 baseband, which supports 5G networks. In terms of CPU, the Kirin 990 5G version is equipped with two large cores of 2.86GHz A76 architecture, two middle cores of 2.36GHz A76 architecture, and four small cores of 1.95GHz A55 architecture. For Gpus, the Kirin 990 uses the 16-core Mali-G76. With six more cores than the Kirin 980, performance is improved by 6%, while energy efficiency is improved by 20%.
