The AMD Ryzen 5 6600HS is a processor based on the Rembrandt H (Zen 3) gaming laptop, which is in the mid-range in terms of performance. The R5 6600HS integrates six cores based on the Zen 3 microarchitecture. They range from 3.3 (base frequency) to 4.5 GHz (Turbo) and support SMT\/ hyperthreading (16 threads). The chip is manufactured at TSMC using a 6-nanometer process.
The new Zen 3 is an update to the Zen 3 architecture without many changes. The chip itself offers a number of new features, such as support for USB 4 (40 Gbps), PCI-E Gen 4, DDR5-4800MT\/s or LPDDR5-6400MT\/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth LE 5.2, DisplayPort 2, and AV1 decoding.
Due to the higher maximum frequency, processor performance is faster than the older Ryzen 5 5600H. But the new Alder Lake H-series cpus, such as the i5-12600H, should offer much higher performance.
With the 6000 series, AMD has finally switched to the current RDNA 2 graphics architecture for the iGPU. The 6600HS offers only the Radeon 660M, is equipped with six CUs and has a maximum frequency of 1.9 GHz.
The TDP of the APU is specified as 35 watts (default). Power efficiency is excellent thanks to the 6000 Series' improved 6nm process and additional power-saving features.
