The 14 nm and 7 nm in the chip refer to the manufacturing process of the chip. We all know that the chip is composed of transistors, the smaller the process, then in the same area of the chip, the more transistors, the stronger the corresponding performance.
Taking Huawei Kirin 980 and Huawei Kirin 970 as an example, Kirin 980 is a chip of 7nm process, and Kirin 970 is a chip of 10nm process. Kirin 980 has 6.9 billion transistors, and Kirin 970 has 5.5 billion transistors, an increase of about 25.5%.
In a chip of the same size, the 7nm process chip can obviously carry more things than the 10nm process, let alone the 14nm process, so the smaller the process in reality, the more advanced the technology, the higher the corresponding performance.
