A common question is how many transistors a chip has. The number of transistors inside the chip is determined by the chip process, the higher the chip process, the more silicon transistors per unit area. For example, the transistors inside a 5-nanometer chip are about 170 million per square millimeter, and a 5-nanometer chip can reach 17 billion. The 3-nanometer chip that has not yet been mass-produced has a transistor density of 300 million per square millimeter, and the number of transistors inside a 3-nanometer chip is as high as 30 billion.
