However, processors, chips and other hardware based on the RISC-V architecture can be designed, manufactured and sold. In fact, many companies are already developing and selling their own products based on the RISC-V architecture. Although RISC-V itself cannot be sold outright, it offers an open ecosystem that gives innovators and businesses the opportunity to formulate and customize their own processors and chips.
