The 5G chips in Huawei's 5G phones are not produced by Huawei itself, but commissioned by other manufacturers, including companies such as TSMC and Mediatek.
At present, Huawei's 5G chips are mainly produced by TSMC, using a 7nm process. Among them, Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 and Huawei Hisparon are the two 5G chips that Huawei has commissioned TSMC to produce. In addition, Mediatek Helio M70 is also a 5G chip contracted for Huawei, which is manufactured by TSMC using a 7nm process process.
It is reported that SMIC is expected to produce Kirin 5G chips for Huawei and use the N1 manufacturing process. This will allow Huawei to reduce its dependence on external manufacturers, while also benefiting the development of China's contract chip manufacturing industry.
Huawei has a number of contract manufacturing partners for 5G equipment, the most important of which is Foxconn Technology Group. Foxconn, one of the world's largest electronics manufacturing service providers, has cooperated with Huawei to produce 5G equipment, including base station equipment and terminal equipment. In addition, Huawei has also cooperated with other contract manufacturers such as TSMC and ZTE to jointly produce 5G equipment to meet the needs of the global market. The addition of these contract manufacturing partners provides Huawei with a strong manufacturing capacity and production capacity guarantee, enabling Huawei to promote and deploy 5G technology globally.
