The research team successfully developed the prototype of the photonic chip in 2018, and announced the mass production of the photonic chip in March 2021, marking the start of the industrialization process of photonic computing in China, which is of great significance for the revolutionary changes in the field of information technology and communication.
The photonic chip production line jointly developed by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China Electronics Science and Technology Group Corporation began mass production, which marks a major progress in China's research and development in the field of photonic chips.
At present, there are more companies producing photonic chips, some of which are representative companies including Intel, Huawei, Cisco, Freescale, optical fiber communications Company, ASML and so on.
