South bridge chip: mainly responsible for the input and output interface, including USB, IEEE1394, hard disk, optical drive, floppy drive, keyboard, mouse, PCI card and other peripheral devices, in addition to the audio decoding part of the function;

CMOS chip: BIOS;
Code chip: Audio decoding (different function from Southbridge)
Nic chip: Only the mainboard with integrated NIC
Frequency division chip: responsible for the frequency division of each device (because the frequency of each device is different, the CPU is very high, and other devices are relatively low, so there will be this chip!)
The general motherboard has the above chip, lack of any one can not be used!
(Note: 1, network card chip is not necessary, but now has been widely provided; 2, some motherboards use a single chip, that is, the north and south bridge integration!)
