The North Bridge chip (North Bridge) is the most important component that plays a leading role in the motherboard chipset, also known as the Host Bridge. The Northbridge chip is responsible for the contact with the CPU and controls the transmission of memory, AGP, PCI data within the Northbridge, providing support for the type and main frequency of the CPU, the front-end bus frequency of the system, the type of memory (SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, RDRAM, etc.) and the maximum capacity, ISA\/PCI\/AGP slots, ECC error correction, etc. The integrated chipset's Northbridge chip also integrates the display core.
The South bridge chip is mainly responsible for data processing and transmission of external devices.
The main function of the North bridge chip is data transmission and signal control. On the one hand, it exchanges signals with the CPU through the front-end bus, and on the other hand, it exchanges signals with the memory, AGP, and south bridge.
