Vietnam chips mainly undertake individual processes of chip processing, most of which are packaging and testing processes, belonging to the middle and lower reaches of the chip industry chain.
At present, Vietnam's chip industry chain upstream silicon smart design and IC design, midstream IC wafer manufacturing, related production process testing equipment, light mask, chemicals, etc., downstream IC packaging testing, related production process testing equipment, components modules, distribution, etc., in addition to design and wafer foundry technology needs to be strengthened. The industrial chain of upstream materials, midstream components, downstream assembly and system products is complete, and electronics and related components have risen to become the largest export industry of Vietnam.
Southeast Asia is the world's major semiconductor chip packaging and testing center. It is understood that China's Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung of South Korea, Intel of the United States, Apple and so on have industrial chain layout in Vietnam, mainly concentrated in these two provinces in northern Vietnam. Three of the parks are home to Hon Hai Precision factories, which mainly make products for Apple. Half of Samsung's international production capacity for mobile phones and tablets is located in Vietnam, specifically in Bac Ninh Province.
