Evaluation criteria
Degree of innovation
Whether the product design concept is an innovation in itself or a new and more desirable extension of an existing product.
beauty
The shape of the product design concept is pleasing to the eye.
Realization possibility
Whether modern technology allows the realization of design concepts. If the current level of technology is not enough to realize the design concept, is it possible to achieve it in the next one to three years?
Function and use
Whether the design concept meets all requirements for operation, use, safety and maintenance; Whether a need or function is met; Production efficiency, production cost whether the design concept can be produced at a reasonable cost; Ergonomics and human interaction product concepts are applicable to the end user's body structure and mental conditions.
Emotional content
In addition to immediate practical use, whether the product concept can provide sensory quality, emotional support or other interesting uses.
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Adequate time will be allowed for the winner to apply for protection of the winning design concept between the announcement of the results of the competition and the announcement of the results. Participation in the Red Dot competition does not compromise the intellectual property rights of the participants.
Judging takes place during July and all winners will be notified in August. Design concepts that do not win will not be announced to the outside world. Only the winning design concept will be revealed at the award ceremony and celebrations. So the winner has about three months to apply for intellectual property protection for the winning work.
eligibility
Designers, design studios, design companies, research and experimental units, inventors, design professionals and design students from any country or region in the world are eligible to participate. All design inventions that don't exist on the market. The jury will make the award decision directly through the judging process.
Instructions for Submission of work
Submissions to the jury should be presented on an A3 size page, please login directly to the website and upload your entries, they will be printed as the basis for judging.
